Synopsis:
Will Gerard (Nicolas Cage) is a dedicated English teacher of a school in a slum, happily married to Laura (January Jones), a music of great talent. They enjoy a comfortable life, which revolves around classical music concerts, barbecues in the backyard and Will's favorite pastime, chess games with the director of the institute (Harold Perrineau). But one terrible night shatters their life. Coming out of an essay, Laura is the victim of a brutal sexual assault. While Will waits nervously in the hospital to be put to both the state of Laura, a type well-dressed (Guy Pearce) heads up to him and offers to do justice on the fly and save the family the ordeal of having to go through judicial process emotionally painful. Forced to have to make a decision at the time, in its altered mood, accepts the proposal, and is engaged in a clandestine organization righteous, leading to increasingly terrifying consequences and dangerous.
